The Yul Brynner Photographer exhibition is an exclusive selection of some of the best images in the collection curated by his daughter Victoria Brynner. The opening is on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Leclaireur in West Hollywood, California.
Victoria explains "I am very selective as to where I show the images - Leclaireur is a beautiful, elegant and unique space. These images were last published by Karl Lagerfeld
via his 7L/Steidl publishing house. He was a family friend and very passionate about the images. That is the last time we showed them."
The 23 images that have been selected will be exhibited for the first time in Los Angeles as an exclusive look at the best photographs by Yul Brynner available for purchase in a
"Brynner used photography as a way to stay in love with his day job, filling hours spent waiting on film sets by strolling among friends and crew with a Leica slung around his neck," writes Lucy Davies for the Telegraph. "His images reveal a talent for accruing images of subjects utterly at ease in his presence...[like] Ingrid Bergman who smiles indulgently from her bathroom doorway, a candy-stripe robe tucked neatly around her
waist; Frank Sinatra emerges from a helicopter, its blades still pulsing, besuited, fedora-ed and clutching a glass of scotch on the rocks."
Opening night is an invitation-only affair which has already attracted an enviable guestlist -- as is to be expected when Victoria Brynner is curating a photo exhibition of her
father's acclaimed work. The exhibit will run through the end of December. For the remainder of the run it will be free and open to the public, but parking is limited and therefore ridesharing is highly encouraged (Leclaireur is at 450 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90048).
